Shakespeare's
Globe
Students
on the London Program are often thrilled to experience Shakespeare
in the New Globe. Part of that experience includes a tour of the
Rose Theater excavation, a tour of the New Globe, and a workshop
led by a member of the Globe Education team. The workshop encouraged
students to explore their acting abilities while also expanding
their knowledge of Shakespeare.
Both
the students from 2000 and 2001 found this to be a favorite workshop
- and each group saw at least one performance in the Globe space.
(2000 - Tempest and The Antipodes)
(2001 - Cymbeline)

Theatre
de Complicite
Students
on the 2001 program had the opportunity to spend an entire day with
Clive Mendes of the internationally reknowned company. The day was
split with the morning being a movement workshop and the afternoon
spent discussing Complicite's technique for devising and adapting
works for the stage. This was a phenomenal opportunity!

Students
asked many questions of Mendes, excited to learn more about Complicite's
process! |
| |
Faculty
members Lesley Ferris and Jeanine Thompson also were excited by this
landmark opportunity!

Trestle Company
Students
from both programs were excited to experience a mask workshop with
Trestle Company. This leading company performs with a variety of
masks and their work is internationally recognized. The workshop
teaches the basics of mask technique and all the students participated
in improvisational scenes using the base level masks.
Students
on the 2001 trip were also able to see the world premiere of Blood
and Roses, performed by the Trestle Company at the Riverside Studios.
